bus stopBus Services

Buses, both from the Museum collection and visiting, will provide a regular, free, bus service to and from Lincoln City Centre, a 'park and ride' service and 'country bus services' and 'excursions'. A timetable / vehicle schedule is included as part of the admission price.

The buses confirmed as scheduled for 'service' are listed here. The programme will include a detailed timetable showing which journeys each bus is scheduled to run.

The 'Park & Ride' service for this event will run from Teal Park, off Whisby Road - close to the Whisby Roundabout ('Pride of Lincoln') roundabout on the A 46 Lincoln by-pass. (Postcode LN6 3XX). Map HERE (although please be aware the road is quite new and may not appear on some navigation systems.)

This service will run from 10.00 am through the day, every 10 - 15 minutes. The last departure back to the Park & Ride will be at 5.05 pm. The 5.00 pm 'City Tour' bus will also continue to Teal Park (arriving approx 6 pm) after the tour.

City Centre Bus Service

The City Centre service can NOT operate from Lincoln Railway Station as in past years because of road closures as part of the development of Lincoln's new Transport Hub.

The service will run from Tentercroft Street (south of the railway line, east of the new temporary bus station) and will also pick up and set down on St Mark's Street outside Debenhams (site of Lincolnshire Road Car depot) - this service will run every 15 minutes from 10.05 until 4.20 pm (this will connect with the 5.00 pm City Tour bus), then an additional journey (which will also set down at the Park & Ride site) at 4.50 pm.

A map showing the locations of both stops can be seen here.

Country bus routes and excursions

We will be operating our usual service connecting the Museum with the Natural World Centre at Whisby, and Doddington Hall (please check Doddington Hall's website for opening times of craft fair, gardens, house - admission charges may apply)

The last bus will connect with the 5.00 pm 'City Tour' and Park & Ride departures from the Museum.

The last bus FROM Lincoln with a connection for Whisby and Doddington will be the 3.35 pm from Tentercroft Street.

Additional 'tours and excursions' will operate on the day - more information in the event programme.

Country Bus Car Rides open day stalls

Car Rides

Some of the cars from the Museum collection are intended to be on the road and will be offering rides from 12.00 noon onwards. The cars we intend to be on the road are listed here.

All 'bus services' and car rides are free but we would strongly encourage visitors to purchase a programme which helps to cover the event's operating costs as well as helping to restore and maintain the vehicles in use. These events could not continue to run without the financial support of our visitors to whom we are grateful. All funds raised will go towards the running of our open days and upkeep of the Museum and vehicles.

Bringing a Vehicle?

Visiting historic / classic / interesting vehicles are welcome (the event is not a "rally" as such, so there are no rally plaques or prizes) - cars and small commercials will be parked on a site next to the Museum, large commercial vehicles / buses and coaches will be on display at the Lindum Group site on Station Road, North Hykeham. (post code LN6 3QX, map HERE) -

There is no formal entry process, but please contact us in advance. (further documentation will be required for buses / coaches to run 'in service')

We will be running connecting buses between the Lindum site and the Museum through the day.

We are most grateful to Lindum Group and many of our neighbours for use of their premises for the event.

Getting to Lincoln

If you are bringing a vehicle and are able to offer travel to the event, either on a free or commercial basis, please get in touch and we will add details.

Stalls

We will have a number of visiitng stalls selling mainly a range of transport related items including books, photographs, models and a range of items including badges and ticket machines.

A few stall spaces are still available. An entry form can be downloaded here (opens as PDF file - requires Acrobat Reader or similar) but please contact us for thre latest position. Please note that food / drink sellers are not needed.

Parking
We would respectfully ask visitors to use either local bus services or one of our bus services from either Lincoln City Centre or the Teal Park 'park & ride' to get to the Museum. We would ask visitors not to obstruct the streets near to the Museum with parked cars, as this makes it difficult for us to operate bus services, can be dangerous for pedestrians, and may threaten the future of our events.

Limited car parking facilities will be provided at the Museum for blue badge (disabled driver) holders only.

If you require any further information, please contact us.

Staying for the Weekend?

Visit Lincolnshire has more about what our City and County have to offer and an accommodation finder.

PLEASE NOTE - We will not be able respond to e-mails during the event, and may not be able to respond quickly via social media during the event - if you have an urgent enquiry on the day please telephone.

All funds raised will go towards the running of our open days and upkeep of the Museum and vehicles.
