The Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum follows the development of road transport through the years in the context of Lincolnshire. Come and get a feel for how people used to travel, see how engineering has developed and learn how public transport has changed and shaped the way we live today.
Our preservation work has been ongoing since 1959 and we now have over 60 vehicles in the collection, made up of coaches, cars, vans, fire appliances, motorcycles and bicycles. Many of these have been the subject of painstaking restorations by our members.
The collection also contains a rich selection of additional artefacts including signposts, ticket machines, uniforms, photographs, timetables and destination blinds.
In our modern workshop, you can view our current restoration projects which include a 1960s Ford Capri and 1930s single decker bus!
Most of our vehicles are not just static exhibits, they are fully roadworthy too and we hold several events a year to give visitors the chance to experience them ‘in action.’
Our aim is to make your visit enjoyable and we appreciate your support.
Special Open Day
Free entry to the museum and several of our vintage buses will be giving free rides around the local area.
The Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum is run entirely by volunteers of the Lincolnshire Vintage Vehicle Society.
We are one of the oldest preservation societies in the UK, established in 1959.
The LVVS is a voluntary organisation which receives no regular funding from central or local government.
Consequently, donations of any size are always very welcome.
The Lincolnshire Vintage Vehicle Society gratefully acknowledges the encouragement and support of The Arts Council, Lincoln City Council, Lincolnshire County Council, Museum Development East Midlands, MLA East Midlands, North Kesteven District Council, The Transport Trust and many other organisations, businesses and individuals.
