Car Running Day - Bank Holiday Monday 28 August 2017
August Bank Holiday saw the Museum host our annual car running day. We were blessed with good weather and a good number of visitors.
When we started the event, we always hoped it would be a classic car rally, and this time we had a great turn out of visiting cars including a Model T Ford, and a very nice pre-war Morris 8 complete with vintage gramophone. A very interesting visitor was a Citroen BX estate - possibly the last of the quirky Citroens. Among the cars brought along by our members was a 1973 Austin Maxi - it's easy to forget how popular these were as family transports back in the 70s and 80s - classic cars from the 80s and 90s are still a rarity at classic car events.
As usual, the Museum's collection of Austins was on the road, along with the Ford 'shooting brake' and as usual, the SS Jaguar was the star of the show with many people enjoying a ride.
