Vintage and Classic Car Day - August Bank Holiday Monday 29 August 2022
August Bank Holiday will see the return of our annual car running day. We hope to be running a selection of cars from our collection (and possibly a couple of our members' cars) on local trips, which are always enjoyed by our visitors. It is very unusual to be able to ride in pre-war cars, unless of course you own one!
We will have light refreshments available and our popular book and model stall will be in operation.
Whilst we hope to have about half a dozen cars from the collection giving rides we plan to position some other cars from the collection outside for photographs and to give them some fresh air!
If you have a classic car, motorcycle or small commercial vehicle of your own why not bring it along for everyone to see!
Our cars are old and fragile and visitors will appreciate the 'shape' of the event depends entirely on the weather.
The museum will be open from 11 am to 4 pm with rides from 12 noon.
Admission is £10 with accompanied under 18s free, parking on site is very limited - visitors are encouraged to travel by public transport - Stagecoach service 9 from Lincoln Bus Station to the 'Swanpool' on Doddington Road, or by train to Hykeham Station, a short walk to the Museum.
We regret that dogs, other than assistance dogs, are no longer allowed on the premises.
Transport Festival event at the Museum - SATURDAY 3 September 2022 - 10 am to 5 pm
Bringing our collection to life, come and see over 50 historic vehicles in our museum and enjoy a selection of buses from our collection running a free bus service throughout the day giving nostalgic rides, following the first of the new style of event on Saturday 30 May. Our thanks to everyone who came to this event, and the 9 July event.
Refreshments available.
Public transport is available from Lincoln Bus Station, Stagecoach service 9 or train to Hykeham Station, a short walk to the Museum.
We regret we are unable to accommodate visiting vehicles or park & ride and there is no on-site parking.
Admission £10.00 per person, with accompanied under 18s free.
We regret that dogs, other than assistance dogs, are no longer allowed on the premises.
Please Note - After much consideration and discussion, we very reluctantly decided in 2021 not to organise any further Transport Festival events on the same scale as events up to 2019, but we are looking towards smaller events at the Museum instead for the coming season. Concerns have been raised regarding the wisdom of
expecting large numbers of people to cross Whisby Road safely and regularly all
day, as traffic has become rather heavy and there are those drivers (not
entrants!) who are very impatient as well as those who do not respect the speed
limit. Not a safe mix at all. |
Lincolnshire Heritage Open Days - Sunday 18 September 2022
We have taken part in this event for several years - more information to follow.
